Is China a good place to sharpen my martial arts skills before a huge movie?
yea u cud learn sumthing new to from china
Reply:Well, I dunno.....but, it beats the hell outta Topeka, Kansas!

Happy kickin'!
Reply:In my opinion, it's not about which country you go to to sparpen up your martial arts skills. It's more about who you would be learning or training under and which form of martial art are you looking at.
Reply:No. Assuming you are serious. Go find one of the following persons and induce him to train you. Don't go from teacher to teacher.

Stay with one of them until you have picked up the dynamic movement you need for the movie.

Dr. Jung Hwan Park. West Coast Florida. 9th Degree Tae Kwon Do, 6th Degree Hapkido. This man is the best all around teacher. He can teach dynamic movement, sharp, clear photogenic style punching, rapid kicking technique, throws, realistic multiple attacker coordination, weapons (especially knives) photogenic fighting and form movement.

Joe Lewis - Raliegh North Carolina. He can teach dynamic coordination, false motion, fighting and general movement.

Bill Wallace - he can teach dynamic coordination, dynamic rapid and versitle kicking technique and photogenic fighting. Bill Wallace travels the country giving seminars. I believe he is based in Florida.

Master Pan Quing Fu Ontario Canada - Kung Fu and Wu Shu teacher. Master Pan is one of the world's greatest fighters. He can teach Chinese Style movement and photogenic fighting.

Dan Insanto Marina Del Rey California - Dan Insanto trained Bruce Lee's son Brandon Lee and enabled him to develop the fast, photogenic style that he used in the two (or three) movies before his accidental death on a movie set.

Out of all of these men, if I signed for a movie and felt I had to train into it, I'd go to Dr. Jung Hwan Park (if he took me). He has the deepest and most versatile knowledge of these four and of any other martial art teachers I've ever known or read about. No one else comes close, but the other men are in his class.

Lastly If I couldn't get Dr. Park to take me on on his student, then my second choice would be Dan Insanto.

I would not go (ever) to China, Asia, Europe Africa or anywhere else to learn a martial art or hone it. The best Martial Art teachers in the World come to America.

The only possible exception to that is going to Thailand to learn real kickboxing. The reason you "might" do that is not the instructors. The best teachers are here. Its the conditions in the. boxing camps. The camps are pretty much unregulated. They are so difficult, that if you survive, it brings out the best of your potential in you.

The other side of that coin is that many many people who do have great potential but cannot stand the regieme, injure out, taking them out of the sport for good.

Lastly Why do the World's Best Martial Artists come to America? Because they can (and they do). Would you stay in a nation with no prospects and people living in crude primitive conditions in which owning a bicycle is considered a luxury item?

If you would, that is why you are not a great or even good Martial Artist. All good Martial Artists have common sense. Common sense dictates that you come here for a better life for you and your family if you can. They can. They do.
Reply:nah stay at home just train 24/7 if u want to be good just eat breath and sleep martial arts
Reply:I second the suggestion to go to Master Pan Quing Fu. There is a story that he was approached by police to help bust a Chinese tong. He went in by himself and tore the place apart. Needless to say, the police arrested the perps. Go see the movie Iron%26amp; Silk. He plays the old master who doesn't want to teach foreigners.
Reply:doesn't matter where u go to train, the most important thing is to choose the right martial art for the movies u r going to shoot.

chinese martial arts are mostly fast, flowing, strong, smooth, and showy... good for show (for the most part)

japanese martial arts are mostly fast, strong, but a little on the brutal side (also good for show)

so, just pick the martial art that best suits the movie ur about to shoot
Reply:go to the playplace at mcdonalds and beat up little kids.. yeah.. that would totally sharpen your skillz.
